About the logo contest

GRIDS is in the process of redesigning its logo, as we want your help! A student design organization ought to have one of its own create its logo, so we are holding a contest to redo the existing logo. Winner takes $200 (and a bit of pride). The winner will also receive an award certificate and an honorable mention on our website (re-design coming Summer 2009 as well). This is a great opportunity to kick off the summer, win some cash, and add a piece to your portfolio!

The winning logo will be used as our new GRIDS logo and will be displayed on our website, print materials, and posters. All artwork must be original. Artwork must be submitted via email to events@csusgrids.org in EPS or AI format.

GRIDS Mission Statement

GRIDS is a community of graphic design students centered at California State University, Sacramento who are interested in learning about design and the opportunities available for designers in the market place. GRIDS provides students the opportunity to meet and network with other design students and industry professionals through organization sponsored events such as field trips, portfolio reviews, and AIGA membership events.

Contest Deadline

All entries must be received by GRIDS no later than June 30th, 2009. The winner will be announced by the end of July.

Art Direction

What kind of logo are we looking for? Do we want a logo graphic or logotype?

The logo should be concept based that has a relationship with our mission statement. For example, in our mission statement we mention a design community. So a possible logo can be based off an idea of community. It could graphically portray various designs coming together which forms the word GRIDS.

All entries should follow the 10 traits of a good symbol to ensure the logo is versatile enough to be used in all our communication media.

We are open to either a purely graphical logo or a logotype. If a graphical logo is designed make sure to give thought to which font can go with it, and where it might be ideally placed around the graphic.

Good luck!

Is submitting more than one logo/logotype allowed in this contest?
